Four Quick Tips about Flowers for Weddings and Beyond

1. Here is a problem that crops up at every wedding - How to put on the boutonniere? Here's the answer!

2. The best way to keep flowers fresh:

  • Keep them in clean fresh water.
  • Use the flower food supplied by the florist.
  • Clip the tips of the stems every 2-3 days to keep the openings fresh.
  • Never add aspirin or a penny to the water. They are "old wives tales" and actually will make the flowers die quicker.

3. Have a collection of old vases you don't know what to do with?

Elite Florals in Abington PA  has recycle days in the summer. For each vase you turn in you get a free flower. They then use those vases for charitable occasions, like nursing home flowers.

4. How to get the most flowers for your money:

Make sure you are ordering from a brick and mortar store. People don't realize that when they call 1-800 numbers they see on the web it is just an order collection agency. Those agencies will keep a percent and fax over a smaller order to the flower shop than you are paying for. Some of those agencies are located outside the United States, so there is no way to get your money back when you realize what happened.

Thank you to Edith at Elite Florals for taking the time to answer my questions! Elite Florals is a preferred florist at Talamore Country Club and does a spectacular job!
