Congratulations to Isha & Nick on your engagement! What a celebration at the Spring Mill Manor this weekend. The beauty of the venue was enhanced by an elaborate stage built just for their ceremony by Abhishek Decorators. But couldn't match the beauty of Isha herself. Her makeup was don by Arfana Jasar and was stunning. It's so exciting and fun to see a couple so in love and happy. They first met while at Rutgers and have been engaged only a few months. The wedding is set for next year. DJ Sunny provided the music and had everybody dancing the whole night. The food was catered by Rasoi. The family and friends were so nice and treated us so well, I'm predicting a long and happy marriage for Isha and Nick. We took video and photos, so I have a lot to process yet, but here are a few of my favorites from their session before the celebration.
Debra & John had a beautiful wedding. It was just the right combination of fun and elegance. The whole day was at The SunnyBrook Ballroom which is a blast from the past. Read their history on their website to see just how cool this place really is. John is a big Frank Sinatra fan so he wore a Fedora and asked the guests to wear a hat, and they did. I included a group picture of them in the slideshow.
Birthdays are a time for celebration. As mothers we always make sure our children have a special day, but what about celebrating your own day? Kudos to Marie who treated herself to a portrait session. Not only does she look beautiful, we had lots of fun! I know most people don't really have a nice professional picture of themselves because they "don't like their picture taken." I say value yourself and capture how you look today. I guarantee that in 10 years you'll look at your pictures from today and think about how young and pretty were.

New Year's Eve 2017 ended with a sparkle this year for Megan, Colin and everybody at their wedding/New Year's Eve party. The record-breaking cold thwarted our plans of the reveal being outside on the bridge but didn't stop us from getting some great images for them inside the beautiful Talamore Country Club in Ambler, PA. Megan & Colin had a lot of fun and unique elements built into their wedding day starting with a visit from their fur baby who stopped by to pose for some formal pictures. Her gown was The Country Bride and Gent was beautiful, fit perfectly and the bride was able to move around comfortably and enjoy her day. The men got their tuxes from The Black Tux and were very happy with them. They all looked nice, but the groom looked extra dashing with his medals on his chest. Their wedding reception was a great New Year's Eve party, with the music supplied by Frank Raffa of Sound Sensation DJ's and which had balloons dropping at the stroke of midnight while everybody kissed their first kiss of 2018. But, the night wasn't over until the sparkler sendoff which took place at 12:45am in 5 degrees. Brrr. The guests who braved the cold enjoyed a fun farewell to the happy bride and groom who warmed up in Hawaii for their honeymoon. Below is a sneek peek, but there are many more images available soon as the bride gets a chance to see them first.
Family Portraits: What to wear and what not to wear
I often get asked for advice on what to wear for a family photo session. It's a great question. These photo(s) will be hanging on your walls for years to come, so it is an important decision.
For a lot of years, it was common to see a family all in white shirts and khaki pants, or blue jeans. Now that is viewed as trendy and boring. I would not wear white because it makes a person appear heavier while darker colors are slimming. For most people, even thin ones, they prefer to look as slim as possible so I would say avoid wearing white.
What about the idea of everybody matching by wearing the same color shirt, say red or blue, and the same color pants? I advise against it. When people are close together and in the same color it is hard at a quick glance to see where one person ends and the next begins. The optical illusion is to make you look heavier.
Coordination is the answer
What works best is for everybody to be coordinated. Pick a color scheme that you like and that would go well with the wall and room where you are going to hang the picture. For most people, it is neutrals or earth-tones.
You couldn't have a nicer group of people than Terri & Russ and their family and friends. I'm so happy they had such a beautiful day at The Desmond, in Malvern PA. The color scheme was a deep violet with flowers containing white & yellow, the perfect accents. The bride's bouquet had a dragonfly in it. I love dragonflies, too. The suite where the bride and her girls got dressed was awesome! Big and beautiful with large windows on two adjacent walls. As the photographer, I love being able to control the light and this room was the perfect set up. Plus there were two adjacent bedrooms so there was plenty of places for the women to put their stuff and keep the center area clear. Russ and the men were able to have their own session before and took advantage of the many areas inside and outside of The Desmond. The wedding ceremony was in the solarium, which is beautiful, large windows surround the whole room and ceiling. The Cocktail hour and ballroom were close together and spectacularly beautiful. They had little cookies made that were the spitting image of the bride and groom, each guest received a set. The music and MC of the day was provided by Frank Raffa, owner of Sound Sensation DJ's. As always he and Amber did a wonderful job. The guests were treated to a night of great music and delicious food. The service and thoughtfulness of the staff were second to none. Here are a few images of the day. More to come in about 2 weeks.
Congratulations to Melissa and Andrew on their beautiful wedding! There may not have been any water from the sky, but there was lot's of water in the form of happy tears throughout the day. Melissa's father could not hold back the tears when he turned around to see his daughter as the beautiful bride for the first time, which of course brought tears to everybody's eyes. We did a first reveal for the little flower girl too. She couldn't have been more excited and happy. She was such a sweet and pretty little girl! The day started at the Residence Inn in North Wales with the men getting ready. They looked quite debonair in their navy blue tuxedoes with an orange tie and pocket squares from Men's Wearhouse. The women soon arrived, all looking great with their hair and makeup done at Contempo Cuts. They did a super job. We were transported by an adorable trolley provided by Cescape Trolly, to St Matthews church in Conshohocken, which is a cathedral-like historic church. The grandparents and parents were escorted up the aisle as Dr. Troy Wilnemiller sang The Lord's Prayer. I can't describe to you how majestic it was as he stood on the balcony in the back of the church and filled the church with his operatic and booming voice. It literally brought tears to my eyes! Then the girls proceeded up the aisle. I'll never forget the look of pure love and beaming happiness on the grooms face when he saw his bride and her father coming up the aisle. See if you can spot which of these images are of that moment.
The reception was at Talamore Country Club in Ambler PA. The Talamore never looked more beautiful with the table clothes and flower centerpieces all perfectly matching the color scheme of the wedding party. In fact, all the flowers, which were from Willow and Thistles in Blue Bell PA, looked fabulous! Uplighting and monogram and photobooth were supplied by Frank Raffa from Sound Sensation DJ's. They also providied the "Dancing on a Cloud" first dance, it was very romantic. So, here is a little preview of some of their wedding images. Many more to come in a few weeks.
Have you ever been surprised with a party or shower? If you didn't suspect it, you probably were not dressed with hair and makeup done the way you would have been, had you known. I think it's safe to say that Barbara was really surprised at her party at Talamore Country Club in Ambler PA. She was told by her husband that he hired a photographer to do some professional pictures as a birthday gift to her. Great idea because it gave her a reason to be dressed up. The surprise didn't end there though. For MC they had a comedian who is famous in Nigeria, where Barbara and Alan are from. He flew in for a couple engagements. Alan got down on one knee, presented her with a bouquet of roses. You would think that's it, but no, he also gave her a beautiful and very large ring. For dinner they had authentic Nigerian Food along with the Talamore's American food. I tried the rice and some kind of fried dough, both were delicious! Did you know that Talamore allows outside caterers? After cutting the cake and some heart felt words for Barbara by family and friends the dancing began and never stopped till the party was over. Everybody had a great time. Here is a sneak peek till I can get the rest of the photos processed and uploaded.
Here is a different approach to a wedding: Split up the wedding day by holding the ceremony and the reception on different days. This is what Tracey and Jim did and I must say, it worked out very well. Immediately after the Saturday mass, the wedding ceremony was held at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 2316 Fairhill Ave, Glenside, PA 19038. The ceremony was followed by a short photography session and a bubble exit.
The next week was the reception at the newly renovated Country House at Blue Stone, 711 Boehms Church Rd, Blue Bell PA. We met them early and took formal pictures, then they enjoyed their reception. There were several unique elements at the reception. First, the prints of the wedding ceremony were framed and displayed around the home style rooms and on the baby grand piano. They looked beautiful, if I do say so myself. There is also an outdoor area with a fire pit which the guests enjoyed, especially the cigar smoking men. Inside the music was provided by Unbreakable Entertainment from Warminster PA. During the evening, everybody went outside and watched as Tracey and Jim released a hot air balloon lantern. They also had some cute family wedding traditions, like everybody waving flags and singing "God Bless America" and ending the evening with a human pyramid. It was a really fun wedding with a really nice group of people. Speaking of nice, the staff at Blue Stone Country Club were wonderful and the food was outstanding. I definitely recommend checking them out if you are planning a wedding. Here is their sneak peek:
Congratulations to Zach and Rebecca on a wonderful wedding at the Warrington Country Club,1360 Almshouse Road, Warrington PA . The beauty of the bride was almost matched by the wonderful weather and the view of their outdoor location. The bridal party colors were a gorgeous yellow and white accented by the men wearing a dark blue tux. The white and yellow roses were provided by Domenic Graziano's. The Warrington Country Club has been totally renovated in this past year. It was always pretty, but we love the new glamorous look. First thing in the day while we were taking pictures of the girls, the bride's son was asking where is the doughnut wall was. Turns out it was a dessert option I had never seen before. This was a wall of freshly made donuts with a wide variety of options. Image the smell of fresh doughnuts still warm and some even dripping with fresh chocolate. It looked delicious! The guests were treated to a delicious dinner and had a great time dancing and visiting with each other. Here are just a few of my favorite images. Check my website to see more soon.
Located at GPS Coordinates: +40.329932/-74.939177. Now, you know it's rural when the address is GPS coordinates! But actually, it's down the street from downtown New Hope on the PA side. You can book your wedding there. They have a pretty outdoor area with a pond for the ceremony and a large tent for the reception. However, the wedding we did there was not booked like that. We went into the preserve unofficially and parked next to a beautiful stone bridge. The bride and her bridal party entered down a staircase that was wooden steps attached to a hill. The groom and his men waited on the bridge, where the ceremony took place. It was a beautiful, peaceful setting. A simple and quick ceremony attended only by the bride and groom, their parents and the bridal party. One of the smartest decisions they made was to have a reveal before the wedding, which allowed us to take some time to get images by the pretty pond Bowman's Hill has set up for weddings. That area was booked for another person's wedding at the same time as ours, so going to it before the other people (who officially booked with the preserve) was the only time we would have the opportunity. After the wedding, the reception was in the backyard of the bride and grooms house. They had a large tent. The bar/liquor set up was second to none. The food was out of this world delicious from O'Neil catering! There were many personalized items on display. The table seating assignments were written on an old window. The "sign in book" was a set of wooden stairs. No doubt these special momentos are now found in their house.
Two of the nicest people you could ever meet are Paul & Dina. After being a couple for 7 years they decided to tie the knot at the beautiful Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center, 1401 Morris Rd Blue Bell, PA 19422. The tone of the whole wedding was just an easy-going & fun event, like the personalities of the bride and groom. The flowers were provided by Blooms and Buds, 1214 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell PA 19422. They were beautiful! Here are just a few images from their wonderful day:
Cinderella has nothing over Kim when it comes to having a romantic Prince charming. Eric proposed to Kim with an engraved glass slipper and that theme was carried over to their beautiful Talamore Country Club wedding. They chose Talamore because they fell in love with the beauty of the rolling green hills, lakes, and bridge. Their dream of an outdoor wedding was almost dashed by a weather forecast of 70% chance of thunderstorms. But actually, it did not even rain at all. The music for both the ceremony and reception was provided by Frank Raffa from Sound Sensation. He had everybody up and dancing all night long. After the reception was over we went out front to get a last romantic image for Kim & Eric. Here is a sneak peek.
